Group skating lessons for all ages and skill levels, offered through St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation at the Civic Ice Arena.

Your First Steps on Ice

The Learn to Skate program is the perfect starting point for anyone who wants to get on the ice. Run in partnership with St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation, our group lessons are taught by qualified instructors in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment.

Whether your child is stepping on the ice for the first time or you are an adult looking to pick up a new skill, there is a class that fits. All classes follow the Learn to Skate USA curriculum, so skaters build real skills at their own pace.

Designed for skaters with special needs or disabilities who want to experience the joy of skating.

Power Hockey

⏰ 6:00 – 7:00 pm

🏒 Ages 6–17

Prior hockey skating knowledge required. Beginner to advanced welcome. Full gear required, sticks may be brought but not used on ice.

Registration for Session 7 opens June 18, 2026. Spots fill up quickly, so sign up early. You can register online through the St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation portal or in person at their office.

Good to Know

  • Helmets are required for Tots classes. Snow pants and gloves are recommended.
  • Hockey classes require a helmet and gloves. Full gear is optional, stick recommended.
